About the Meeting
PAMS is an acronym for Pacific-Asian Marginal Seas. This meeting series was started in 1981 initially named as JECSS, focusing exclusively on regional physical oceanography. To cover the ever-growing multi-disciplinary studies over all marginal seas around the Pacific-Asian area and beyond, JECSS naturally evolved into PAMS, which is now a premier platform for experts and young scientists from all over the world to exchange new ideas and experiences on relevant topics from theoretical, observational, and modeling perspectives. In recent decades, the PAMS regions have experienced significant changes in environment and climate, and multi-scale oceanic processes clearly play a fundamental role in regulating these changes.
The 22nd PAMS meeting will be held in Sapporo, Japan, from June 16 to June 18, 2026, hosted by Hokkaido University.
